![OKUNRIN explained: So I never do this but I’ll explain every part of “Okunrin” to show how my mind works.
Slide 1: my eyes, both yellow for effect but one clearly looney toon inspired while the other leans to my actual eye shape. If my skin was ripped off my other eye would surely be cartoon like. I’m a cartoon trapped in a human body.
Slide 2: the bow tie is a nod to formal dressing, my lawyer wardrobe basically. For those new here, yes I am a lawyer.
Slide 3: my literal take on the Nigerian slang bomb dey your head. Meaning it’s urgent/ you’re in danger / look out for/ be careful. Also the bomb is the bomb from the Super Mario games, which I obviously ODed on as a child.
Slide 4: the anticipated BOOM of a bomb, deliberately cut short to have your mind auto fill it but also to show I am about to blow.
Slide 5: my eyelashes because all my life women around me have been jealous of my long eyelashes. You don’t want them breaking in your eyes though. 🔪
Slide 6: @mrkensho on a sunny day with a surreal looking flower and bed of clouds for shade.
Slide 7: a close up of my eye, my eye dey red. Meaning I’m looking for money. It’s reddddd 😂
Slide 8: a golden pyramid to suggest Egyptian enlightenment and a stack of brick$$$
Slide 9: After Cartoon Network, the next biggest influence on me is definitely anime AND no anime has impressed me as much as Akira. I don’t revisit it as much but it’s so memorable. Also Astro boy boot had to make a cameo. For aesthetics.
Slide 10: the bomb is tiny because it’s supposed to double as my hair bun. I’ve kept my hair for the last 2 years and 5 months. I used to be ‘bald’.
Slide 11: I’ve been obsessed with chess since April 2023, growing stronger every day #
Slide 12: a dinosaur inspired by Rugrats, a colour swap obvs
Slide 13: a nod to the actual colour palette I am sticking to for the foreseeable future.
Slide 14: my actual skin tone, taken from a picture and painted with a hard texture brush I got from @iamrenike in 2019. Also the flow is to depict my now healthy skin, I used to have black spots and hyper pigmentation.
